How it works
Containerised storage, not a unit you drive to
Your belongings are wrapped and loaded at your property, sealed into containers and moved to a secure site. Nothing is handled again until it comes back out, which is the single biggest difference between this and self storage.
-
1
We survey and quote
We look at what needs storing and for roughly how long, then quote a fixed price. You are not guessing at unit sizes on a website.
-
2
We wrap and load
Sofas bagged, furniture blanket wrapped then cling wrapped, floors and door frames protected. Everything is inventoried as it goes on the van.
-
3
We store it sealed
Goods go into containers at one of our three sites, under 24 hour security, dry and insured as standard.
-
4
We deliver when you are ready
Give us notice and we bring it back to your new address and place it where you want it. No second move to organise.
Which do you need
Removals storage compared with self storage
Self storage suits people who want regular access to their things. Removals storage suits people who are between homes and do not want to move everything twice.
| Moves 4 U storage | Typical self storage | |
|---|---|---|
| Who does the moving | Our crew, both ways | You, or a van you hire |
| Wrapping and protection | Included, done by us | You buy and apply it |
| Insurance | Included as standard | Usually a paid add-on |
| Access to goods | By arrangement | Usually 24/7 self access |
| Paying for space | Space your goods actually fill | Fixed unit size, empty space included |
| Best for | Gaps between moving out and in | Regular access, business stock |
If you need to get at your belongings every week, self storage is the better fit and we will tell you so. If you are moving and need somewhere safe in between, this is cheaper and far less work.
Common situations
When Glasgow customers use storage
-
Move dates that do not line up
The most common reason by far. Scottish missives and chained sales rarely land on the same day. We store everything and deliver when you get the keys.
-
Renovation and building work
Clear the rooms properly rather than shuffling furniture under dust sheets. Safer for your things and faster for the trades.
-
Selling and staging
Estate agents will tell you a decluttered house shows better. Store the excess until the sale completes.
-
Working away or overseas
Long term storage for contracts abroad, university terms or a spell in temporary accommodation.
-
Downsizing
Time to decide what stays and what goes, rather than making those calls in a rush on moving day.
-
Business stock and archive
Office relocations, surplus furniture, seasonal stock and document archive. Collected and returned by the same team.

Common questions
Storage in Glasgow, answered
How much does furniture storage cost in Glasgow?
Removals storage is priced on the volume your goods actually take up and how long you need it, rather than on a fixed unit size. That usually works out cheaper than self storage for a house move, because you are not paying for empty space around your belongings, and collection, wrapping and insurance are included rather than charged separately.
We survey what needs storing and give you a fixed price before anything moves. Call and describe the property and contents and we will give you a ballpark on the phone.
Is it worth putting furniture in storage?
It is worth it when the alternative is worse. If your sale and purchase are a fortnight apart, storage is almost always cheaper than a short let, a second removal or asking family to take your things. It is less worth it for low value furniture you were replacing anyway, where a few months of storage can cost more than the items. We will say so if that is the case.
How long can I store my belongings for?
From a few days to as long as you need. Most of our storage customers are between homes and need somewhere for one to eight weeks. Others store for months while working away or renovating. There is no minimum term you have to commit to up front.
Are my belongings insured while in storage?
Yes. Insurance is included as standard rather than sold as an extra. Cover applies in transit to the site and while your goods are stored. If you are storing anything high in value, tell us at the survey and we will confirm in writing that it is covered before it goes on the van.
Can I access my things while they are in storage?
Yes, by arrangement. Because goods are containerised rather than sitting in a unit you hold a key to, we need notice to bring your container to an accessible position. If you know you will need frequent access, a self storage unit is the better choice and we will tell you that rather than take the booking.
Can you collect and store at short notice?
Often yes, including same day when a completion slips or a chain breaks. That is exactly the situation storage exists for. Call as early as you can and we will tell you honestly what we can do that day.
What cannot go into storage?
Nothing flammable or hazardous, so no petrol, gas cylinders, paint, aerosols or garden chemicals. No perishable food, no plants and no living creatures. Cash, jewellery and important documents should stay with you. Everything else, from white goods to pianos, we can handle.
Do you store business stock and office furniture?
Yes. We store commercial goods including office furniture, surplus equipment, seasonal stock and document archive, often alongside an office relocation. The same crew handles collection and return, which keeps disruption to your trading down.
Need somewhere safe between moving out and moving in?
Tell us what needs storing and for roughly how long. Free quotes, no obligation, and same day collection is often possible.
